Bloomberg ha rivelato che i fondatori di Three Arrows Capital (3AC) Kyle Davies e Su Zhu si sono rifatti vivi dopo 5 settimane di totale assenza.
Si è trattato di un’assenza, come sostengono loro stessi, dovuta alle numerose minacce di morte ricevute. Durante questi 5 mesi hanno comunque collaborato con le autorità.
Three Arrows Capital è un hedge fund recentemente fallito che deve ai suoi creditori ben 2,8 miliardi di dollari. Pochi giorni fa, per esempio, è stata rivelata l’esposizione di Genesis pari a 2,36 miliardi.
I fondatori di Three Arrows Capital hanno sempre creduto pienamente nel progetto:
“We believed in everything to the fullest. We had all our, almost all of our assets in there. And then in the good times we did the best. And then in the bad times, we lost the most.”
Col senno di poi, aggiungono, l’implosione di 3AC, Celsius e Voyager non deve stupire perché tutti fanno lo stesso tipo di scommesse:
“It’s not a surprise that Celsius, ourselves, these kind of firms, all have problems at the same time. We have our own capital, we have our own balance sheet, but then we also take in deposits from these lenders and then we generate yield on them. So if we’re in the business of taking in deposits and then generating yield, then that, you know, means we end up doing similar trades.”
Il problema, secondo Davies e Zhu, è stato non prevedere che il crollo repentino di Luna potesse provocare una stretta creditizia nel settore e mettere pressione sulle posizioni illiquide dei player, cioè quelle che non possono essere sbloccate subito e con facilità.
Da tre settimane gli asset rimanenti di 3AC sono stati congelati da un giudice di New York in attesa che termini il procedimento sulla bancarotta.
